Inkscape is a free cross-platform program used for creating illustrations such as diagrams, technical drawings, maps and logos. It has similar features to Illustrator. It produces vector-based graphics which can be scaled without losing quality making them ideal for printed documents. Inkscape can also be used for simple page layout.

|Prior knowledge||Basic IT skills. Knowledge of text formatting in a word-processing package such as Word.|
